My Cats fight for the top spot on their tree!

Bella Pet Design has customers that complain that a cat tree is not enough for their 2 cats, and that they always fight for the same top bed of the tree.

Cats have competitive natures, as well as the love to climb. The top spot gives them the feeling they are in charge, they look at everything from above, are able to observe things and are able to react. This is instinctive for a cat, cats still have the wild instincts that bigger cats use in the wild. A big cat, like a lion would climb a tree and sit on one of the branches feeling more secure that if an attack would come, they are able to observe all the action below them, which gives them the advantage of time, to react.

Although our beloved home cats are in no imminent danger not should they feel threaten, that instinct coming from their ancestors will most likely never disappear.

So is there a resolution for this problem? We at Bella Pet Design think so:

You either get a custom cat tree that has a double top or one with a single larger top. I personally would advise for the single larger top? Why: Because as I said earlier cats are competitive and they will always try to have the same top shelf. A larger shelf would accommodate both your cats.

If we are thinking 3 or more cats a real large top shelf for your cat tree might be the answer, depending on the size of your cats.

If you ever need to ask a question about cat behavior and how we can help please contact us , the Bella Pet Design staff would love to answer all your question to the best of our ability.

My Cat Scratches my furniture. What can I do?

Being a Cat furniture manufacturer and a cat owner, I hear all the time about how cats scratch peoples furniture and the question what to do to stop it.
Cat owners usualy go to the store and buy this sticky tape so they don't scratch their favorite furniture, and I am not saying it doesn't work well, but your cat will move on to the next best thing to scratch, which might be walls or other pieces of furniture you may have in the house.

The perfect thing to do is this: Buy yourself a scratching post with sisal rope and the sticky tape made especially for cats and then go home. Put the sticky tape on the cats favorite place to scratch, that you don't want them to scratch, and then put the scratching post you just bought, hopefully directly from the manufacturer, like Bella Pet Design, which has Made in America only products, and put it in front of your cat or cats. If at first they don't seem interested, which can happen... so many cats, so many personalities...., then take your cats paws gently and scratch the sisal rope post like the cat would do it on their own. They will then figure it out for themselves that " Hmmmm, that is a nice place to scratch, especially because they put that ugly sticky tape on my favorite thing to to file my nails".

If you your cat will not scratch the post still, then your cat(s) must not have claws :). I know I have had cats all my life, and never did this fail, even when the sticky tape didn't exist, the sisal rope scratching post was always the best thing.

If you have multiple cats or just one cat that favors certain things to scratch contact us at www.bellapetdesign.com and tell us what we can do for your cat. If we don't have it, we build it for you.
